Friday - Feb. 26

Thank god it's Friday! It's been a long, lonely, cake-deprived week. Half our office was on vaca and Crazy Cake Lady went on hiatus. It was so depressing we had to buy $1 QFC flowers for the office. But, along with bringing us joy, they attracted a ton of gnats we had to kill. You think the gnats would be attracted to Cake Lady...
No one knew what to do about CCL's absence. We tried to replace her with store-bought treats...
Dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate truffles.

They were delicious, but they weren't wrapped in foil. Someone tried to replace her with the QFC bakery...
QFC Peach Pie
QFC Carrot Cake

But, alas, it was not the same; a little dry, a little too mushy, not cake-lady-esque at all.
Then, something great happened. We peaked in the lunch-room window and we saw the glimmering-foil wrapping. "Carrot cake with orange cream cheese frosting" was scrawled in permanent marker across the cover's top. Underneath was a two-layer, crumbly, carroty cake. She was back. And everyone was so happy they apparently had to use two knives to retrieve their slice.

We still don't know why Cake Lady abandoned us, but we hope it never happens again. For the blog's sake and our bellies'.
Finally, again, work is making us fat. Have a great weekend!

Thursday - Feb. 25

We knew today would be a good day. Because today is Thursday. And Thursday is Pizza Day. That means we would at least get ONE new food picture today. And that's basically what we got.
Cake Lady is still revolting against her trained-sweet-toothed co-workers. We did, however, spot her sitting with a few others munching on homemade pecan cookies, but they snatched them away before we were able to sneak a picture.
They looked something like this:
Pecan cookies
(We knew Cake Lady did not make the cookies because they were packaged in tupperware, not foil)
Then, finally, Evil Pizza Man came.

Trying to give you readers a different perspective on Pizza Day, we snuck a picture from his delivery:
Pizza bag
(One of two jumbo-bags, plus a Safeway bag of Pepperoncinis and parm. and crushed red pepper packets)

Thank goodness the week is almost over. We hope Cake Lady cheers up soon,
-Weight-gaining worker

Wednesday - Feb. 24

Seriously, Cake Lady has gone Crazy.
No cakes again today. And no QFC, either. And three of our employees are out of the office. It's looking bleak, real bleak.
Cheer us up with some of your food photos at work, please!! twitter:workmakesmefat or e-mail: workmakesmefat@gmail.com.
:(,

Tuesday - Feb. 23

Apparently Quality Food Center (or QFC to you simple folk) has replaced Crazy Cake Lady. We don't know if it's the competition she can't handle or if she just wants new pens, but she's been really losing this week. We'd also like to thank her for making one of us crave sweets so much a mid-day Starbucks run yesterday resulted in eating stale $3 Red Velvet cupcakes.
You know what else is failing? My dumb camera phone. It won't let me upload pictures of the treats today and our usual, awesome photographer is out of the office until Thursday. But don't worry, I've got options...

Doughnuts
(via picture from Feb. 2. Good thing QFC sticks to their same doughnut-making techniques week after week! And good thing Tuesdays are apparently Doughnut Day.)
Chocolate cake
(OK, it doesn't look this great and the lunchroom isn't decorated like a 6-year-old girl's birthday party, but you get the idea. Just imagine it minus the strawberries on a plastic store-bought cake tray. And make the frosting a little more plastic-ey.)

Also, thanks to @trendymartini for tweeting us another picture of her work treats. Check out her vanilla cupcakes with kindergarten-primary-colored sprinkles here: http://tweetphoto.com/12286744 . We should probably just add her to the staff ;)

Cake Lady, we're sorry we called you crazy, please come back, QFC is lame.

Monday - Feb. 22

There's something very strange happening at this office. Crazy cake lady has gone crazy and has stopped (for 2 whole work days) bringing in treats. We don't know if she's still mad about her pens or if she's trying to save more money for the lack received in tips, but whatever she's protesting, she's leaving us with empty, sugar-craving stomachs.

Our tweet friend @trendymartini saved the day when she tweeted us "@WorkMakesMeFat Thought of you today... Coworkers brought in all kinds of goodies! Cookies and brownies galore! Staying strong through. :)" She graciously sent us a photo of her work's food-porn:

Brownies.
("These are the #brownies that are left;" she tweeted, "the #cookies didn't stand a chance.
They devoured'em!")

If any of you work somewhere that is making you fat, don't hesitate to send in your pictures! Send us a TwitPic @workmakesmefat or e-mail us: workmakesmefat@gmail.com.

Hoping cake lady cheers up,

Friday - Feb. 19

Cake lady must really be in a bad mood today. Despite a sunny, beautiful Friday the lunchroom was very dreary. A 9a.m. visit resulted in no treats, and much shock. At 11 a.m. we found a half-eaten carrot cake and the QFC grocery store cake box in the trash. We thought maybe cake lady was sick. Nope, she was still there... cleaning the lunchroom floors with a napkin. :(

We shall try to have a good weekend while we wait for (hopefully) Monday's temptations,

Thursday - Feb. 18

First, we need to give a shout out to one of our coworkers who has a Birthday tomorrow. But since can't disclose names we'll say "Happy Birthday Daniellezwar!" We didn't bring her a birthday cake because we don't allow cakes in this office...
But, since it's her birthday we thought it would be nice to take a break and walk to Starbucks. Starbucks makes us fat, but only when we order Venti Caramel extra caramel Frappachinos with whip. (like some people's boyfriends *ehem*) So we got our drinks and headed back to work and who do we run into? Evil Pizza Man! We tried to get a picture of Pizza Man, but he scurried away too quickly and all we got was a picture of his silver SUV. We liked his dumpy red, geo metro better. boo Pizza Man :(
We did, however, catch a picture of all the humans eating pizza and all the other treats today. We also found out that Crazy Cake Lady does not like it when people steal her pens. Poor Cake Lady always gets taken advantage of.
I hope she brings something good tomorrow!

Humans eating pizza
Pizza!!!!!!: 'The Meats' pan, 'Garden Fresh' thin crust, Chicken & Mushroom thin crust, Pepperoni & Sausage. We like to go all out. We're too exciting for plain cheese.
Roasted garlic swirly bread
Bailey's bunt cake.
Unfortunately, it will not get you drunk.

Wednesday - Feb. 17

Can we assume these random bags of fruit officially makes it "fruit week"?
Creme almond poppy seed ring cake
Warm-caramel sauce to top the cheese cake. Just in case the plain sugar-filled, calorie packed cake isn't enough.
Caramel-brown sugar banana cake
Pecan spice cheese cake
A hunk of gouda cheese..
for some reason we thought this was OK to eat while we avoided the others, even though it has 101 calories and 7.8 grams of fat per 1 oz.

Tuesday - Feb. 16

Well... maybe this week is just fruit week...
Bag of home-grown lemons? We have no idea.
Fresh strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting
Doughnuts - still no sprinkles :(

Monday - Feb. 15

Mini fried apple tart things
Chinese New Year celebration cookie assortment and a pile of (healthy!) satsumas

Individual, heat-as-you-like, mini apple turnovers
Mt. Vernon cake (in honor of Presidents' Day)
We don't really know what was in this, but crazy cake lady really outdid herself this time.
According to one Web site, the cake is an adaption of Martha Washington's cake. To make:

"Take 40 eggs and divide the whites from the yolks and beat them to a froth. Then work 4 pounds of butter to a cream and put the whites of eggs to it a Spoon full at a time till it is well work'd. Then put 4 pounds of sugar finely powdered to it in the same manner then put in the Yolks of eggs and 5 pounds of flour and 5 pounds of fruit. 2 hours will bake it. Add to it half an ounce of mace and nutmeg half a pint of wine and some fresh brandy."

Also, we're not 100 percent sure, but from the looks of things, aside from the holiday treats, this could be apple week!
We'll confirm tomorrow.

Friday - Feb. 12

Good/bad news! Crazy cake lady is back and as good as ever. She made two delicious treats today and even earned $3 and a love note. What a great way to end the week. :)

A donation of appreciation
"num-nums" (as we call them)
oatmeal cookie, chocolate, caramel, pecan bars with crumbly deliciousness on top
Coffee-chocolate sheet cake

Yum, chocolate

Co-worker saved/ruined the day with a king-sized Hershey's bar with almonds

(note: Please don't laugh at our crappy lenovo computers)

Thursday - Feb. 11

What!? No treats today!? We've come to the conclusion that the lack of deliciousness is probably due to the fact that crazy cake lady only made $1 last week. What rude coworkers! Don't they know baking is an expensive hobby?
We complain about the treats, but one of the coworkers is currently craving a cookie, and yesterday two people actually traveled to the bakery to eat a slice of Black Forest cake (view last Thursday's post.) Work cravings make us fat.
In other news, we weren't able to sneak a pic. of the evil pizza man, but we did see him getting into his dumpy, red, 2-door hatchback.

See you tomorrow,
Weight-gaining worker

Italian garlic rolls
Pizza

Wednesday - Feb. 10

"Final exam" brownies
Coffeecake muffins with almond and cherry swirl

Time travel: Monday - Feb. 8

In case you were wondering why we left you, our fabulous fans, out to rot Monday, without any delicious, jean-button-popping pictures of work food, we thought we'd explain.
1. We were all super stuffed and slightly ill from our beverage-induced comas from the Superbowl the night before to walk downstairs. Superbowls make us fat.
2. Our super-fantastic-greatest blog moderator was out of the office Monday, and despite reminders to take pictures, it didn't happen.
There were, however treats on Monday, of course. But once we got downstairs to take pictures all that was left was crumbs and a pile of aluminum foil. So, we'll just assume there were 3 cakes.
Don't worry, this wont happen again ;)
- Weight-gaining worker.

Tuesday - Feb. 9

Chocolate & white chocolate chip cookies
Rice krispie-pretzel-chocolate chip-peanut butter mystery bars
Doughnuts (where are the sprinkles?)

Le week de lemon

Well, if you couldn't tell among the mass of treats, this week was "lemon week." Or so we heard from one of the peeps who work directly with crazy baking lady. We checked the tip jar once and she had $1. I wonder if she made enough to continue the obsession into next week...
Waiting for Monday's temptations,
Weight-gaining worker.

Friday - Feb. 5

Lemon pound cake.....again
Flower-shaped Shortbread cookies

Thursday - Feb. 4

Rows and rows of pizza
Evil pizza man
Glazed poppyseed pound cake
Lemon pound cake
Honey wheat bread

Thursday - A losing battle

Today we succumbed to the decadent mounds of gooey, rich, creamy, fruity, crumbly goodness of gourmet cakes. Seriously, just by looking at these half-mauled cakes made us want to stick our faces in them. We couldn't rests having a slice. Can you blame us?
